About Angel Radio

"ANGEL RADIO IS AN ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC UNIQUE PROJECT

WHICH FILLS A GAP CREATED BY THE MEDIA WHO SEEM TO THINK OLDER PEOPLE ARE INVISIBLE AND MUSIC STARTED WITH THE BEATLES"

 THE CONCEPT

The idea is very basic -

+ Accentuate the positive aspects of being an older person.

+ Provide a radio station for older people to run themselves.

+ Make the station unique by specialising in records made before 1960.

  THE TEAM

The Angel Radio team numbers 92 volunteers.

Several are in their 80s, most are over 60.

Most have never worked in radio before.

Most are fit and active.

Some have disabilities, including blind, deaf, arthritic,

Parkinson's and stroke victims.

All do as much as they feel comfortable with.

  FUNDING

We are a not-for-profit group, which operates on a very small, very tight budget. Our income originates from diverse sources, which includes advertising local businesses, donations from listeners, sponsorship of programmes, and sales of nostalgia items in our shop, which is situated in Market Parade in Havant. We have received small funding grants from local councils, the National Lottery, Age Concern and local businesses.

ANGEL RADIO IS A FANTASTIC, UNIQUE PROJECT. ITS SCOPE AND ABILITY TO

REACH, AND BECOME A LIFELINE TO MANY MORE OLDER PEOPLE
