Angel Radio's FM and internet audience are growing at an amazing rate. Station Manager, Tony Smith, said "Every day we are getting new FM listeners calling our request line, and over a million people have logged on to our internet streams in the past 12 months. We have now doubled the capacity of our servers so that even more people can listen online. Listenership has also been boosted by companies like 'Reciva' who send our streams to Wi-Fi radios and Nokia and Apple who stream us to mobile phones
Angel Radio's Dance Band station has been forced to close due to rising costs, equipment breakdown and lack of room at the studios in Havant.
The cost of streaming has gone up considerably over the past few months as the £ weakens.
Our PC, which sends a single stream to the distribution company, has died. And we have recently had donations of large amounts of memorabilia, which needs to be stored somewhere.
So the only option seems to be to close Angel Dance Bands, clear out the equipment and use the room as a storage area.
Angel Radio's Juliette and Tony dropped in on a group of people enjoying a sing song in the Gosport Methodist Church. The Silver Song Club, part of the Sing for Your Life group, meet at the church once a month and thoroughly enjoy themselves. A recording of the fun will be turned into a radio show and aired on Angel Radio.
