Angel Radio - Transmitter
No it's not the old Radio City fort.
It's Angel Radio's transmission tower.
The photo shows Station Manager, Tony Smith at the top of two 70ft steel silos. The cable, mast, antenna, and tools had to be hoisted to the top on a steel rope.
A 20 foot pole was attached to the top of the silo and the 5/8 wave vertical antenna was mounted on top of the pole together with a horizontal dipole which receives the link signal from our studio.
Two 30 metre coax cables run from the aerials down to the base of the left-hand silo, which houses our link receiver and FM transmitter.
